Spending quality time with the family is important. Board games have been a great way for families to spend time together. Here is the top 5 board games you can play with your loved ones.
1. Chess
Chess is a family board game of tactics and strategy. This is certainly not a game of chance. Chess has been described not only as a game, but also as an art, science, and sport. Two players can play this board game which is played on a chessboard, a square-checkered board with 64 squares arranged in an eight-by-eight grid. Each one begins the game with sixteen pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns. The object of the game is to checkmate the opponent’s king,
2. Scrabble
This is a word where up to four players take turns placing the tiles on letters and earn points by completing words. The words are formed across and down in crossword fashion and must appear in a standard dictionary. This game is very popular especially when you can remember the feeling of sitting down with your mother or father for a leisurely game of Scrabble on a rainy Sunday afternoon.3. Backgammon
Backgammon is the oldest recorded game in history. This game is played by moving the playing pieces according to the roll of dice. Players win by removing all of their pieces from the board. Although luck is involved and factors into the outcome, strategy plays a more important role in the long run.4. Monopoly
No game is better suited to the budding capitalist than this classic real estate game. The Monopoly board consists of forty spaces containing twenty-eight properties (twenty-two colored streets, four railroads and two utilities), three Chance spaces, three Community Chest spaces, a Luxury Tax space, an Income Tax space, and the four corner squares: GO, Jail, Free Parking, and Go to Jail. The purpose of that game was to teach people how monopolies end up bankrupting the many and giving extraordinary wealth to one or few individuals.Monopoly involves a portion of luck, with the roll of the dice determining whether a player gets to own key properties or lands on squares with high rents.
5. Chinese Checkers
Chinese checkers is a board game that can be played by two to six people. Whether it’s the marbles or the star-shaped board, kids love to play this checker-like game. The objective of the game is to place one’s pieces in the corner opposite their starting position of a pitted hexagram by single moves or jumps over other pieces.Family board games of strategy never go out of style because we all have that competitive streak in us. Whatever board game it is, the idea is for clean competitive fun, well at least for some of us.
